Education is no laughing matter, and children’s futures are nothing to play around with; that is, unless play can unlock future potential. By increasing the amount of STEM learning opportunities, students at GCS are seeing improvements in their grades by this type of “playing.”

STEM curriculum is based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines in an interdisciplinary and applied approach.

  • Engineering
  • Mathematics

If one is not sure of the activities, it may look like they are all fun and games. However, the programs enhance learning that provides students with the foundations for developing skills that will be critically important in their STEM education over time.

Molly, a first-grade student at GCS, enjoys STEM education. Like all the other students, Molly gets excited with a big smile on her face for STEM. After taking the state assessment test, Molly tested on third and fourth grade level. This is the impact STEM education has on all of GCS students.

Some of our STEM activities are robotics, solar panel racing cars, water rockets, toothpick bridges, solar water boats,
and much more.

As STEM interests increase, students are researching STEM activities that most interest them. According to what Abby, a 7th grade student says, “It is amazing how you build and create things while learning at the same time!

Because of STEM education, our students are becoming more involved in learning. This is the key to future success.
